Designer "Sagredo" built circular thermometers
with 360 divisions, an idea he borrowed from the
ancient Babylonians ... it's why today we measure
temperature in degrees.

Scissors cuts paper,
Paper covers rock,
Rock crushes lizard,
Lizard poisons Spock,
Spock smashes scissors,
Scissors decapitates lizard,
Lizard eats paper,
Paper disproves Spock,
Spock vaporises rock,
And, as it always has,
Rock crushes scissors.

Woke early one morning,
The earth lay cool and still,
When suddenly a tiny bird,
Perched on my window sill,

It sang a song so lovely,
So carefree and so gay,
That slowly all my troubles,
Began to slip away,

It sang of far off places,
Of laughter and of fun,
It seemed his very song,
Brought out the morning sun,

I pulled back the covers,
And crept slowly out of bed,
And gently shut the window,
And crushed its little head,

Because I'm not a morning person.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I cannot accept, and the
wisdom to hide the bodies of those people I had to kill today
because they pissed me off.

It appears that oral examinations in GCSE modern languages are going to be dropped. Apparently they're too stressful. It feels more and more like the attitude in schools is:
  • Thanks for turning up, here's your A.
    • Now bugger off, we're busy.

All really sensible men agree that the prudent course is to be neither bigoted in our attachment to the old nor rash and unpractical in keeping an open mind for the new, but to make the best of both dispensations.
  • The Emperor in Androcles and the Lion, by G.B.Shaw.

I'm not going to watch the Clone Wars TV series until I've seen the Clone Wars movie. I prefer to let George Lucas disappoint me in the order he intended.
