File: TimingVariation As a particular pattern or trick is juggled, so the juggler may choose to throw a given ball slightly higher or slightly lower, resulting in a slight change to the exact time when the ball is caught. A collection of small adjustments can lead to quite a shift in the overall look and effect of the pattern, and a substantial change can result in a different JugglingPattern entirely. For example, a perfectly asynchronous shower can be changed to a galloping asynchronous shower by making the higher throw slightly lower, and the lower throw slightly higher. Shifting the timing further will end up in the synchronous shower. Carrying on even further still takes us to the HalfShower. TimingVariations can result in an otherwise mechanical and uninteresting JugglingPattern having more charm than might otherwise expected, and such changes are often subtle, elusive and unexpectedly effective.
